Every check above costs an hour, not a budget line, and in our judgement most sudden drops turn out to be one of them.<\/p>\n If you have to choose where money goes first:<\/p>\n Don’t raise the ad budget into a problem you haven’t found, or cut every channel at once.<\/p>\n Then it probably isn’t one broken thing, and it’s time for the slower questions: did your map ranking slip, did a competitor start outspending you, did your reviews stall, or did ad costs rise. Say a plumbing shop normally gets about 64 new-customer calls a week: 26 from its Google profile, 17 from Local Services Ads, 12 from Google Ads and 9 from its website. This week it got 44.<\/p>\n Broken down by source, the profile brought 25, Google Ads 11 and the website 8. Local Services Ads brought none. Of the 20 missing calls, 17 are the Local Services Ads calls; every other source is within a call or two of normal.<\/p>\n That points straight at Step 4. In this example the owner finds the account migrated to Google Ads the week before, and the lead-routing phone number is an old line that rings out. Fixing one setting brings the calls back.<\/p>\n If calls drop sharply for two or three days with ordinary weather, start the checks.
